RNS-E Reset

Press and hold [RADIO] and [SETUP] for about 30 seconds.

LED DRL Retrofit

As my car already had Xenon headlights, the only thing I missed were LED daytime running lights, like in the TT RS. So I decided to buy these lights and try to simply replace them – plug and play. On this page you can also find how to choose the right serial number for the lights, just scroll up a bit. For me, it looked like this:
8J0 941 029/030 D → 8J0 941 003/004 AJ/Q

How the lights work

After a detailed analysis of the connectors, they turned out to be identical – Audi 14 Pin Connector with the part number 1J0973737.

Headlight Wiring Diagram from 2006
  1. AFS (green/yellow)
  2. AFS (green/brown)
  3. AFS (green/grey)
  4. AFS Power (grey/black)
  5. HID Ground [-] (brown)
  6. HID [+] (yellow/black)
  7. Ground for 9,10,11,12 [-] (brown)
  8. Turn Signal [+] (black/white)
  9. LED DRL [+] (grey/black)
  10. Shutter (High Beam) [+] (white/black)
  11. LED DRL [+] (yellow/green)

After the headlights arrived, I immediately tested the LEDs. You can do this as shown in the picture. Note that the previous image is from the connector pins, not the pins on the headlight itself.

After connecting the ground to Pin 7 and +12V to Pin 10 and Pin 12, this is what it looks like.

Compatibility

These lights can be purchased from Audi under the part number 8J1052180, although you end up with 8J0 941 003/004 AJ, so you can also get them used.

The problem was the statement for the adapter (8J0051444): An adapter is also required for vehicles from calendar week 22/2009 to calendar week 22/2010. In short, depending on the Central Electrics (09) module:
8P0 907 063 B → adapter is required!
8P0 907 063 AB → no adapter required

Coding

Thanks to this forum, I also found all the necessary coding.

Control unit 09 (Central Electrics/Zentralelektrik)
Long coding (07)
Byte 18
Hex: 59 (Xenon and LED DRL RoW)
Byte 27
Bit 2 (LED-DRL module for parking light and DRL/LED-TFL Modul erfüllt Doppelfunktion Standlicht & TFL) → Active ✓

Continues in summer 2023, hope it won’t be as complicated as this, stay tuned.
